IP Telecom invests €500,000 in ‘Point of Presence’ architecture in BT Ireland data centre in major expansion of VOIP network

IP Telecom, a Dublin based company which offers first class telephony solutions to companies in Ireland and across the world via its own VoIP (Voice Over Internet Protocol) network, has undertaken major investment in its infrastructure backbone by completing deployment of point of presence (PoP) architecture into the BT Data Centre in City West Business Park in west Dublin.

IP Telecom chose the BT Ireland Data Centre for this POP due to the large choice of carriers that were available to interconnect with, including INEX, the national internet exchange, the location on the outskirts of the M50, the facilities available onsite and the great turnaround times on implementation requests from BT data centre staff.

IP Telecom, which was founded in 2010, is Ireland’s dedicated VoIP provider for SME and Enterprise customers, offering both Hosted PBX and SIP Trunk solutions. With over 25,000 network end points across thousands of businesses in Ireland, IP Telecom has invested significantly in developing its own cloud based telephone system to ensure it can provide excellent call quality, customer service and technical consultancy.

IP Telecom’s proprietary cloud solution works to future proof each client’s telecommunications infrastructure using cloud based technology rather than traditional line rental and equipment, and this can help them save up to 70% on their existing telephony costs.

IP Telecom works with clients ranging in size from multi-site and international large enterprise and corporate firms to SME businesses, semi-state government bodies and other mainstream and diverse industries.

IP Telecom has accomplished considerable growth during 2017, with a substantial part of their expansion resulting from strategic partnerships and through wholesale deals with other companies.

Brian Chamberlain, CTO of IP Telecom, says:

"Our relationship with BT Data Centres over the past 18 months has been fantastic and has really helped us to grow our infrastructure in response to the huge demand we are seeing from the Irish business community in moving their communications to Voice over IP.”

Peter Evans, MD of Wholesale, BT Ireland with Brian Chamberlain, Chief Technology Officer, IP Telecom

Peter Evans, MD of Wholesale, BT Ireland, says:

“We are delighted to help enable IP Telecom to expand their business and enhance the services they bring to their customers. We demonstrated to IP Telecom how we continue to invest heavily in our global network of 48 data centres across the world in order to bring flexible solutions to market. Due to these investments in technology, people and accreditation, our Dublin facility offers a cost effective environment with access to a wide variety of local and global carriers, best in class security, power efficiency and customer support.

This is evidenced by an unrivalled track record of hosting solutions in Ireland since 2000 for sectors as diverse as Finance, Pharmaceutical, Technology, Public Sector, Manufacturing and Telecommunications.  Bringing this together for customers such as IP Telecom helps them leverage all of the potential that cloud communications has to offer.  We can also use our status as one of the world’s largest communications companies to offer a full suite of voice, data and cloud services to our local partners in Ireland”.
